Chapter – Animals Everywhere

HABITAT :
A
natural conditions and environment in which a plant or animal lives, e.g.
forest, desert, or wetlands.
Types of habitat :

Each kind if animals
live in a particular region .

Like yaks and snow
leopards live in a cold , high mountainous regions of Himalayas . they did not
survive in The warm places .
·
On The other hand,
some live in The warm areas like (blackbucks ,cheetah , lion , etc.) . they did
not survive in the cold areas .
Terrestrial animals :
Animals
live on the land are called terrestrial animals.
Like : lion , tiger , cow
,etc….
Aquatic animals :
The animals live in water are
called aquatic animals . They live in The water bodies like river , lake ,
oceans and ponds .
Fish ,star fish , sea snakes , whales , dolphins ,etc…. are
The example of aquatic animals .
Insects
:

Insects is the largest group of animals living on the
earth .
·
Many feeds from nectar of flower .
·
Example : dragonfly ,butterfly, ladybird ,etc ….
·
Some eat grass like grasshoppers.
·
Some suck blood of animals like mosquitoes .
Birds:
·
Birds feed with their beaks .
·
The size and shapes of beaks depend on The kind of
food The bird eats.
·
Some are carnivorous like owls and eagles .
·
Some are scavengers (they eat dead animals flesh ) like vultures.
Herbivores:
·
Animals that eat only vegetation like grass, root ,
fruits , vegetables ,etc….
·
Animals like rabbits , cow , goats , elephants , etc….
·
They have broad teeth that help them to chew plants .
Carnivores
:
·
Animals that eat flesh of other animals are called
carnivores animals .
·
Animals like tiger , lion , eagle, polar bear
,shark,etc….
·
They have strong and sharp teeth .
·
all kinds of snake are carnivores .They
mostly feed frogs ,mice , rats , lizards , birds and bird eggs .

snakes does not have teeth and thus
swallow their food .
Omnivores:
Animals that eat both The plants
and animals are called Omnivores animals .like
bears ,birds , dogs ………
why do
animals move ?

in The search of food and water .

their wings and legs help them to fly.

Some birds cannot fly like emu , kiwi , ostrich because of weak
and small wings and heavy body .

How animals obtain air ?
Animals need air to live
. snails ,crocodile ,dolphins,
lizards ,birds , and human beings breathe with The help of lungs .
Insects take air with The help of spiracles .
Fishes and many other aquatic animals use oxygen present in
water with the help of their gills .
Animal
Migration :
The long distance movement
of animals regularly in a particular season is known as migration .
Animals move
long distance in search of food , water,
and to avoid harsh weather conditions .
Arctic terns
make The longest migration . They fly form The north pole to The south pole
every winter .
These birds
then return the north pole when The weather turns warm .Every year they fly
thousands of kilometers .
